Business Development Associate


  1. Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 1-3 years’ experience in business development, sales or marketing

  2. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills – comfort and command over the phone a core skill

  3. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook)

  4. Experience with Salesforce CRM a plus

  5. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced start-up team environment

  6. Exceptional attention to detail, organization and time management skills required

  7. CleanFund is based in Sausalito and candidate must have a tolerable commute

Job Responsibilities

  1. Identify prospective deals and smoothly transitioning them to salesperson

  2. Place outbound sales calls and field inbound calls, effectively qualifying deals

  3. Carry out market research to identify key data on target markets 

  4. Assist in managing and optimizing the data structure and integrity of CleanFund’s CRM

  5. Support CleanFund’s business development efforts as it relates to presentations, conferences and trade shows

  6. Work closely alongside the Business Development and Marketing teams.  

  7. Provide administrative support to the Business Development Department, as required

The Business Development Associate role is an entry level position and will support the BD team in lead generation and market research, generating qualified sales leads and supporting in the ongoing optimization of the sales cycle. Lead generation responsibilities will be the predominant focus of the role, involving: the monitoring and analysis of commercial real estate journals and lending platforms for prospective deals and contacts; initial outreach to and engagement with those contacts; as well organized data management in both Excel and Salesforce. The Business Development Associate will also work alongside CleanFund’s Marketing team to support in data collection and database management, as well as pitch speaking engagements and coordinate logistics for relevant conferences and trade shows. This individual will have a measurable impact on CleanFund’s business. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to build their career in business development in clean energy, financial services, and sustainable real estate. A background in some combination of sales, marketing, real estate, renewable energy or energy efficiency is preferred. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
