org/sausalito/job-20500191 The City of Sausalito Invites Applications for the Position of PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/COMMUNITY SERVICES OFFICER Open Until Filled - First Screening Will Occur on May 19, 2024 The Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) performs a variety of law enforcement support duties with the majority of responsibilities involving enforcement of parking rules and regulations in an assigned area while driving a parking enforcement scooter or car or walking on foot.
Duties include reporting defective street signs, pavement markings and parking meters; providing information to the public concerning city geography, location of buildings, public transit stations and stops, and city functions and offices, impounding and providing for the storage of vehicles as necessary, responding to low priority city ordinance violations, assisting with simple evidence collection as needed, assisting with report taking as necessary, and performing related work as required to assist the patrol staff.
The PEO will use a computer to make entries, update and make corrections to information and keep a variety of detailed logs and files, while also using a variety of law enforcement communication equipment.
In addition to issuing warnings and citations, the PEO may testify in court regarding citations issued and other events.
These duties will be performed under general supervision and when assigned, working with other staff.
The majority of the workday will be spent on the field (i.
e.
, outside) in various weather conditions.
A typical schedule is four 10-hour days per week including weekends, nights, and holidays.
The PEO is a physically demanding position as stooping, lifting, kneeling and reaching overhead and forward is required daily.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
EDUCATION:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Experience:
One (1) year of general experience involving public contact.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's License by time of appointment.
